Diana Sanfilippo Newberry '80U, '84G makes estate-plan gift to support future students

Diana Sanfilippo Newberry '80U, '84GRochesterian Diana Sanfilippo Newberry '80U, '84G has always had Nazareth in her heart. As a child growing up in Greece, she dreamed of attending Nazareth - envisioning it as the movie Where Angels Go...Trouble Follows. She applied to five other schools out of respect for her high school guidance counselor but always knew she would be attending Nazareth once she was accepted.

She felt at home right away on campus and started off on a track to be an English teacher until a chance conversation with a friend introduced her to the speech therapy program. She quickly realized that it combined all her interests and was the perfect fit. After a conversation with her counselor, the change of majors was made - and she never looked back, setting out on a 38-year career as a speech language pathologist, with most of her career spent at Monroe BOCES-1.

To show her appreciation and give back to the place that has given her so much, Diana was excited to document a planned gift by remembering Nazareth in her estate plan.

"It's been the most rewarding experience in my life, and I would not have had the joys in my life had I not had my training here at Nazareth. Nazareth is just a great place. The faculty and students honor the true meaning of learning, growing, and looking here, which makes us all stronger in so many ways. It's welcoming. I put Nazareth in my will because I think it's important to give back to the organization that gave me so much. Thank you, Nazareth. I love you."

Diana's planned gift will support Communication Sciences and Disorders (Speech Therapy) and help ensure that future Nazareth students will have an equally impactful and rewarding experience on campus as they pursue their passions.
