Supporting future students and achieving philanthropic goals

Alicia Lamphron ’70Alicia Lamphron ’70 found the confidence to succeed at Nazareth. She says her professors encouraged her to take every opportunity offered and helped her to see that she could accomplish anything she wanted. It was Alicia’s high school Spanish teacher, a Naz grad, who encouraged her to apply to Nazareth to study Spanish. However, Alicia found social work to be her calling. Her part-time work at the Rochester Psychiatric Center was recognized with a job offer in March before her graduation. “I enjoyed the connection to patients and their families and the satisfaction of helping them work through difficulties and improve their lives,” she said of the experience.

Alicia continues to help people improve their lives through her support of Nazareth. Having given annually to Nazareth for 46 years and counting, she recently documented her planned gift that will support an endowed scholarship for social work students. “It is a relief to make decisions and know what you want to accomplish will be done,” she said about her estate plan. Alicia credits her father with teaching her about the importance of sharing and giving back, and she knows that generosity benefits not only the recipient but the giver as well. “Making life better for others makes you feel better.”

Alicia is gratified to know that students at Nazareth still experience the same supportive and personal connections that she enjoyed. By documenting her intentions, Alicia ensures her wishes will be fulfilled and also allows Nazareth to plan for future Golden Flyers.
